Tzu Chi University Receives the 2021 National Health Promotion School Award
On August 4, 2022, the Ministry of Education bestowed several higher education institutions the 2021 National Health Promotion School Awards. The Ministry presented Outstanding Awards to three universities/colleges and Excellent Awards to eight institutions. Tzu Chi University stood out among more than 150 participants and received an Outstanding Award.
Tzu Chi University implemented the Health Promotion Project sponsored by the Ministry of Education and focused on ” Shortening the Distance between Health and Us.” The University endeavored to promote four major health issues, including enhancing body mass index (BMI), stopping infectious diseases, providing sex education, and preventing cigarette smoking. The University invited faculty members, staff, and students to participate in various health-related activities to assist students in establishing good habits and enhancing their physical well-being.
Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in 2021, the University provided its courses online. When carrying out the project, the Health Care Team took initiative to change the promotion approaches by setting the development of healthy habits as its primary goal.
The University employed quantitative analysis and collected qualitative data to evaluate the results, implemented continuous improvement, and moved toward the project goal. To comply with the government’s epidemic prevention measures, the University offered opportunities for students to learn online or take turns to participate in many activities and assisted them in gaining awareness of their health behaviors and ways of enhancing their physical well-being. As a result, many students changed their ways of daily living and worked on preventing epidemics.
To operate a health promotion school, the University has always put “healthy living” at its core. The Health Care Team of the Office of Students Affairs is grateful to receive this award from the Ministry of Education and thanks faculty members, staff, and students for taking good care of themselves during the epidemic.
The Team will continue implementing the health-related project and relevant measures. The University will carry on providing a healthy, safe, and friendly environment to enable faculty members, staff, and students to live their daily lives with vitality and enhance their physical and mental well-being.
